Chris McDaniel

I am licensed by the State of Michigan as a clinical social worker, credentialed by the Michigan Certification Board of Addictions Professionals as a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor, I am certified as an Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist by the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association, and I am a member of the National Association of Social Workers. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Michigan State University and my Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of California at Berkeley. My Graduate fieldwork was in mental health clinic settings in economically and ethnically diverse communities (e.g., San Francisco and Berkeley, California).

My graduate thesis was on families as caregivers of adults with significant mental illnesses. I have worked in both public and private sector mental healthier and substance abuse policy and treatment in 2008 and a test item consultant for the credentialing examination for Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselors in 2015. My primary clinical interests are the treatment of depression, anxiety disorders, Adult Attention Deficit Disorder, substance abuse treatment incorporating the use of auricular acupuncture, and dysfunctional interpersonal relationship patterns. I have been a field instructor for the Michigan State University School of Social Work since 2005.
